The Benefits of Berries
Berries are packed full of fiber! Eating lots of fiber makes you feel full and in turn eat less. Blackberries, raspberries and boysenberries each contain 8 grams of fiber per cup. That’s 1/3 the daily recommended amount of fiber!
Berries are also loaded with antioxidants, which means that they protect our bodies against free radicals that can damage our cells and organs. Berries also protect our bodies against inflammation. A study conducted at Tufts University in Boston discovered that consuming half to one full cup of mixed berries a day improved the cognition and motor performance of animals. As we get older we become more vulnerable to the dangers of free radicals and inflammation. By eating berries you can help prevent those effects!
- Did you know that strawberries contain more Vitamin C per one cup serving than one orange? Strawberries also contain high levels of folic acid.
