Earth Day: Facts About Trees

• Trees absorb carbon dioxide and produce breathable air.

• Trees are the longest living organisms on Earth. A tree in California’s White Mountain is believed to be 0ver 4,800 years old!

• In one day, a tree can consume 100 gallons of water out of the ground. The tree will discharge it into the air as oxygen and water vapor.

• You can save money on your energy bill by strategically planting trees! Not only can trees make shade in the summer but can also serve as a windbreaker in the winter.

• Trees are able to communicate and defend themselves against attacking insects. They can even signal danger to other trees!

• The tradition of saying “knock on wood” came from primitive pagans who used to tap or knock on trees to summon the protective spirits who lived in the trees.

• Pine trees grow on 6 of 7 continents in the world! The only continent where pine trees don’t grow is Antarctica.

Spring Microgreen Salad with Lime Vinaigrette

by EverydayDishes.com

Recipe

Right now at the Market you can find tons of different Microgreens! What are Microgreens though? Microgreens are a tiny form of young, edible greens made from various kinds of vegetables, and herbs. They’re lighter in taste but packed with nutrients! I love adding them to salads for some extra flavour. They also make your salad look instantly fancier!
